Figs
are an excellent source of potassium, calcium, iron and provitamin
A (beta-carotenum) and niacina or B3. They are a great soluble and
insoluble fibre source; therefore it has healthy properties to improve
intestinal transit.
The fig constitutes an ideal reinforcing
complement for a healthy diet and, due to its extra contribution
in sugar and calories, figs become particularly appropriate when
practising long-duration sports or intense physical effort, for
example in the diets of mountain-climbers and excursionists.
It has been proved that the intake
of dried figs shows positive effects in cases of patients with hyper
cholesterol, providing this is not due to weight excess.
